Somewhere near Bolton Abbey in rural Yorkshire, England, stands this old Roman (?) wall which someone some time ago appears to have tried to “integrate” into an expanded road system. Looks to me like the small archway helps to accommodate cyclists. At any rate, it’s a real study … and a bit of a head scratcher.
Kudos to the local government for not tearing down history in favour of all things modern.

Tall ships are full of lines and geometry.
So beautiful in form and substance.
These are random images captured on a hot day at a Tall Ships event in Toronto Harbour, June 2013. I was so fortunate to be on the water in a friend’s motorboat for this experience.

After an ice storm thoughts of summer.
Lavender. Fragrant. Colourful. Soothing. Prolific.
Southern Ontario is becoming home to more and more lavender farms.
Who will complain about that?

Flashback Friday …
Shakespeare had just been put outside, freshly bathed and sprayed with a specially formulated natural fly repellent, when he decided my efforts were just not good enough. Within moments of being released, and to my dismay, he dropped to the ground at his favourite rolling spot and gave himself a delicious dirt bath, creating his own no fly zone.
Look closely and you’ll see a toothy grin and an expression that seems to say, “Don’t worry, mom, I got this.”
I wasn’t smiling … or was I? (Hmmmmmm …. )

A glorious sunrise in Dufferin Co., Ontario.
Whatever you may celebrate this weekend, may it bring you much joy, laughter and hope for the year to come.
Be well,

I must be an old soul for I love the ancient places.
Take me to Italy or Ireland (see previous post) any day.
Coincidentally, or not, I’m currently reading Roma, Steven Saylor’s epic novel on the history of Rome. Which reminds me it’s time to go back and take a fresh slate of pictures.

I love where I live and really there’s no place I’d rather be. However, Ireland has been calling for a while now. I hope to be able to answer soon. Perhaps to the north, next time.
